My Vintage Bestie make her FAMOUS

I had to Post this blog today , because I made something that has to be my favourite piece so far... I don't usually brag, LOL!    but I just love this piece and felt the need to share it with you all ...

I recently started using My Bestie 3d sheets and fell in love. But I have a favourite Bestie that if I could use eveytime I create I would,
  I'D MAKE HER A STAR !

This beautiful girl is not a 3d sheet yet but I thought I would challenge my self and give decoupage a go. she is a full
 pre-coloured digi sheet with background
* First I printed her out on a A4 canvas paper,
this Bestie comes already coloured and with a beautiful background.
* I then cropped the picture of her down to just her and copied her again onto canvas paper 6 times
* and then the fun began as I figured out how to cut each layer to create the 3d image.

once I did all the figuring out and fussy cutting .. the real fun began.
so starting with a 25cm x 30cm plain canvas ( a recycled one I got from a second hand shop )
I painted it with a similar colour in acrylic as her dress and then distressed it with sandpaper and added some Tim Holtz distress spray stain in                       - evergreen bough
and                                        - seedless preserve
I then took the full printed image A4 piece and distressed the edges and inked them with Tim Holtz - vintage photo

Then added a laced border edge made with my Martha Stewart lace - doily border punch

and behind that I added some baby pink mesh ribbon
I then glued a piece of thick recycled cardboard to canvas measuring just slightly smaller then the A4 image print, to give the image piece some pop from the canvas when I add it .

Now its time to piece the Bestie all together

Using 3d foam tape I pieced all the image together in order as in picture above
left to right , top , bottom
Giving it the finished 3d look ,I've added my clear wink of stella to flowers, eye, underlayer of dress and streaks in her hair for a bit of dazzle.

Now I glue her to the canvas onto of the cardboard to give it a bit of lift and shadow off the canvas

then add mulberry paper flowers in pinks and creams and glittered creams , some leaves and bits from my stash
a brass key flat back from stash
and peacock , ostrich and emu feathers personal collection
then again with my clear wink of stella I gave everything a bit of bling

Final piece finished

I hope you have enjoyed todays blog and are loving this bestie as much as I am ..
she definitely a cutie

Gifts to say Thank you

Well today I have had a quiet crafty day , as I had to batten down the hatches as my State where I live ( QUEENSLAND -Australia ) is being hit by a very nasty cyclone , bringing lots of wind and rain to where I live, south of the cyclones path.
So I have a quick short blog to show you todays project creating using My Bestie Design 3D printable sheets , which I won after placing in top 3 at http://mybesties3ddecoblog.blogspot.com/ in their last challenge #3
I have never used one of these sheets before and really didn't think they would be something I would use..
But after using this one today I absolutely love them , especially when you want to make a quick project and not have to worry about colouring first.

I have used https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/192613184/instant-download-3d-deco-card-toppers?ref=shop_home_active_2 as my image

and created a 3d bag with my Silhouette Cameo
Design ID #56457
3/10/2014 - circle handle purse flower lace by
Samantha Walker
I have also coated it with Derivan Matisse - Polyurethane gloss varnish to give it that leather look and feel.
Added some paper flowers
Tim Holtz idea-ology - Buckle
Orange glitter ribbon as the strap
Brass brads

I have always had an interest in crafts as I love to make things and seeing the end result having tried many different types, but must admit the scrapbooking and cardmaking has really won out. I have only being doing cards the last 2 years on and off with a busy family..but alas I'm hooked and I admit I have a craft addiction..

Seeing all these crafting pages on Facebook,  Pinterest, Google and You Tube so many talented people and wonderful creations, keeps me wanting to create.

Last months challenge that I did was the first I've ever done by following a sketch..  I have done once before in scrapbooking but not on a card, so was amazed to win with so many talented people in this group and grateful for this opportunity.
I hope you all enjoy this months sketch and join in
Happy crafting

Art and Craft from my Past

A few days ago I finally bit the bullet and joined INSTAGRAM, i'm thinking it may be a good place to get myself out there, and meet other arty crafty people.
So in doing that I started going back and looking through my creations an the path that has lead me here, to blogging and sharing and joining in with challenges and meeting lots of well known artists and also people like me still learning and helping each other along.
So tonight I thought I would share some of my creations and show all the different paths ive been on as I find my way, figuring out who I am and what type of crafter or artist I would like to be and where I would like it all to take me.

Keep crafting
hugs Kristyn xxx
